Corporate History

iConnect Consulting was founded in 2007 with the mission of providing LIMS consulting services to public/private laboratories in the United States and abroad. Initially, iConnect was focused on helping state public health laboratories (PHLs) implement STARLIMS and has contributed to successful LIMS implementations at a number of PHLs around the country including CDFA-CAC, CDFA-DMS, CGI/HI PHL, CDHS, CDPH, San Diego county, WA PHL, Commonwealth of VA, AZ PHL, PA DOH, South Dakota University Olson Biochemistry Lab, NYC PHL, etc.

As part of its focus on public health, iConnect has been involved in a number of APHL (Association of Public Health Laboratories) projects through the years: Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR), Public Health Laboratory Interoperability Project (PHLIP), STARLIMS subcommittee, Ukraine LIS Assessment project.

In 2008 in addition to providing professional services, iConnect has developed its own “value-value” product for STARLIMS (iConnect Report Viewer) which streamlined the process of reviewing and approval of massive amounts of final reports in STARLIMS. iConnect Report Viewer has been successfully implemented in ten state PHLs.

In 2010 iConnect became technology partner with Thermo Fisher Scientific and helped develop Thermo Clinical LIMS solution which is marketed to clinical diagnostics labs around the globe. Moreover, iConnect has developed a suite of modules for Thermo LIMS products and a standalone Lab Web Portal application, allowing physicians to submit orders to the lab and get access to published patient reports. Lab Web Portal has been very well received by Thermo LIMS customers and iConnect has been successful in positioning LWP as LIMS-agnostic product and deploying it for laboratories using other LIMS/LIS (e.g. STARLIMS).

In 2015 APHL and CDC subcommittee has selected iConnect Lab Web Portal as the ETOR portal for public health laboratories. It has been implemented in 5 states as part of ARLN program; it has been implemented in CA as part of TB program; and iConnect has completed a project with ONC (Office of National Coordinator for Health Information Technology) on expanding portal’s functionality for outbreak preparedness to include EPI review and approval of incoming orders. iConnect is adding EMR/PMS interfacing component which will take the burden of setting up HL7 exchanges with submitters away from the states and offer it as part of ETOR subscription services.
